We are so excited to announce that our fifth annual Eduplex 1440 MTB race is back. After our successful inaugural event in 2021, and 3 hugely successful events in 2022, 2023 and 2024 where we more than doubled our rider numbers, we are pleased to announce that the planning for the 2025 event is in full swing. This year we really are aiming to raise the bar even higher on an amazing event last year and we would love for you to be a part of this. Just as a reminder as to what Eduplex and Eduplex Sport are all about.
The Eduplex is a Dual Medium, 3 Phase Educational Institution. What makes Eduplex even more unique, and perhaps the main reason to be associated with the school, is that it also provides mainstream education to learners who are hearing impaired or who experience profound hearing loss. Through innovative technology and teaching methods, these children find it possible to participate in the most normal and mainstream education, play sport and also participate in cultural activities such as Art and Music, as well as Choir and the Marimba ensemble.
Eduplex also has at its core adventure, pushing the boundaries not just mentally, but emotionally and physically as well. The school possesses some of the finest and most unique facilities of any school in South Africa. Through historically generous donors and the inspirational vision of its founder, Nico van der Merwe, the school boasts over truly world class facilities.
The event will take place from Friday the 11th October to Sunday the 13th October 2024. The event will continue include a 6 and 24 Hour events from the Saturday , but we are also adding and hosting a night trail run on the route on the Friday evening as well, which we think is really exciting indeed.. Continuing the theme from last year, the route is designed to offer a reasonable challenge to riders, without anything being unrideable. We have made some refinements, enabling the route to be a bit more flowing, especially in the nighttime portion of the race and we think that one of the changes in particular is going to be very well received by riders who have ridden the route before. The race village will to be at the school Test Zone, which will enable us to have a much more practical village experience, catering facilities, bathroom and shower facilities, camping and display areas for our sponsors. We are also re-locating the chill zone, food and entertainment areas, as well as changing the location and layout of the handover area, to facilitate a better rider and spectator experience overall.
The idea is to showcase the entire facility by taking riders on a really creative and innovative journey through the Power Zone, Skills track, Test Zone (Second sports facility), through both the High School and the Primary school, all the while exposing riders to various aspects of the schools offering and life.

Although this is the fourth event the school is presenting of this kind, it is ideally positioned to become an annual fixture not just for Eduplex, but for the greater community and the Mountain Biking Community as well. It is a great time to become involved in an event from the ground up, get a great value for money sponsorship opportunity and be a part of a real feel-good event. Lastly, the school obviously has a Section 18A certificate, which as it is an NPO, will allow for you to claim your sponsorship or contribution back as part of your income tax return, please request this specifically upon your Sponsorship Application.
